Happy Monday!  This weekend was a lot of fun - my youngest son and his darling girlfriend came up for a long weekend and we had a wonderful time showing them Maine!  One of the fun places we went to was of course, Pedro O'Hara's!   Once the kids saw this crazy sign, they too wanted to see what it was all about!  True to the restaurant's name, Pedro O'Hara's offered a wide variety of American, Mexican and Irish food, including shepherd's pie made with lamb.  Being lovers of Mexican food, several of us ordered meals from  the wide variety of Mexican dishes.  Once served, we all agreed that Pedro O'Hara's Mexican dishes were just as tasty if not tastier than the Mexican restaurant right down the street!  Service was good but you could tell the owners were having a bit of a hard time bringing the cultures together when it came to the decor.  The only items we could tell that were "Irish" was the kelly green wall near the bar and the large array of names of beers hanging from plastic banners across the room. Obviously, the sombreros hanging on several walls throughout the dining room were the Mexican.  We finally decided the American decor was the pair of extra extra large flip flops with Pedro O'Hara's leprechaun stamped on each heel that were hanging on the far wall.  It was appreciated that the bar was far away from the dining room, although the live singer could be heard while dining.  While this very courageous singer was definitely far better than I would ever be at singing, we weren't so sure how Elton John would feel about this version of Benny and the Jets.  I will admit the singer's choice of Elton John songs stumped us all unless he was making this part of the American portion of the restaurant???  We never did come to agreement with the American portion of the evening, but when it was all said and done, we were all well fed and tended to and had a really fun experience :).
