WEDNESDAY'S FUN FACTS

Happy Wednesday, everyone!  I pray everyone has a wonderful day and rest of the week.

There is so much to learn about Maine, dedicating  only Wednesdays to facts doesn't seem enough.  But, I will do my best!

Maine is most well known for lobster and harvests the most lobster in the United States.

Maine has 3,478 miles of coastline, more than California (3,427). And over 5,000 miles of coast if you include all of the islands coastlines as well. Only Florida and Louisiana (mostly bayou) have more miles of coastline.

And speaking of coastlines .......

Maine has nearly 3,000 off shore islands. Only about 1,200 have an acre or more and 600 comprise 95% of the island acreage.

If all this information is making you hungry, you might want to munch on BLUEBERRIES!

More blueberries are grown in Maine than any other state. The State Berry is the Wild Blueberry.

Maine has more MOOSE per mile than any other state. The Moose is the State Animal. Come on, guys, what's a fun fact Wednesday without anything on moose???

What else is Maine known for???

Maine is known as "vacation land", and with all these coastlines and blueberries, for good reason!
Famous folk from Maine ........

Ian Crocker olympic medalist - had to add this one!
Harriet Beecher Stowe author, abolitionist
Nelson Aldrich Rockefeller u. s. vice president
Margaret Chase Smith politician

If anyone has any interest in a specific topic they would like to know more about, feel free to ask!

Blessings on you day.
